Ways To Wash Your Hair Without Suds:
So, as we explore this question, let's discuss what ingredients are in most store bought shampoo and those those suds that we oh so love. There are many preservatives, such as Propylyene Glycol, ANY derivative of Sulfate and Tetrasodium - just to name a few. These preservatives give products a longer shelf life, can enhance the scent and creates suds. We often equate suds as calming, soothing and truly cleansing the scalp, BUT in a lot of cases, suds can have the opposite affect. This can include stripping the hair of its natural oils, causing irritated scalp AND hair loss. Now for those with naturally oily hair, you may benefit from those affects. However, 'As For Me And My House'?!?, Oh we need ALL the oils we can get.Long story short, the answer is, suds are causing your hair to fall out. So now you may ask, "What's the ingredient in All-Natural Shampoo that cleanses the strands?" My FAVORITE ingredient: Bentonite Clay. Bentonite Clay is known to stimulate hair growth, strengthen the hair as well as cleanse the strands without stripping the natural oils. It is sulfate free, paraben free and non-toxic. Have you ever asked, "What is a plastic free toothbrush?"
Haha ok here we go...A plastic free toothbrush has a handle that is made from the bamboo plant with bristles derived from vegetable oils. The traditional toothbrush is made from plastic and some of them even had pork lining. And even if you find a toothbrush with a bamboo handle, it will most likely have nylon bristles; most of us are not aware that nylon is a derived from plastic. So what's wrong with plastic toothbrushes? Well let me just share a few things...Did you know the amount of plastic toothbrushes that have been thrown away can wrap around the earth FOUR times? By now, we have all heard at least once why plastic is not good to use or for the environment. Certain plastics release Bisphenol-A, (BPA) which is known to bind to estrogen receptors and influence bodily processes, such as growth, cell repair, fetal development, energy levels, and reproduction. Plastic is not biodegradable and pollutes the earth at a suffocating rate. At this point, plastic's reputation is going down the drain...no pun intended. Plastic free toothbrushes are an eco-friendly alternative, as the handles are derived from bamboo, a naturally producing plant that is fully biodegradable, and a renewable and sustainable resource. Bamboo is one of the fastest growing plants on the planet so running out of it's sources is not a concern. It's not just the toothbrush we should be concerned about. The choice of toothpaste should be carefully considered. Check out my latest discussion about a popular ingredient in Toothpaste that we were all told was beneficial to us.Thanks for reading and always remember, "When you respect nature, nature will respect you..."
Alcohol vs Non-Alcohol Sanitizer:
Over the last few years, sanitizer has become a must-have in many households. Alcohol quickly became non-accessible as it was flying off of store shelves due to many people making their own sanitizer at home. But then multiple recalls were recorded for alcohol due to its alarming toxic level. This raised the question, "Can Sanitizer Cleanse Your Hands Without Containing Alcohol? Here a few reasons to think twice about the use of alcohol: #1. Alcohol based hand sanitizers have been recalled by the FDA more than 6 times since 2020, due to "unacceptable levels of benzene, acetaldehyde, and acetal contaminants" which can cause lung failure, blood clots and severe dizziness #2. The use of alcohol on the skin often delays the healing process as it can cause severe dry skin and irritation #3. Multiple reports have linked alcohol to different cancers Ok so I might be aging myself but how many of y'all remember the days when you had a cut or burn on your skin and your elderly figure took a piece of their aloe vera plant (that they always kept in the house) for you to use right away? Aloe Vera is one of the best plants to keep around due to its powerful benefits! Not only does it boost the immune system, relieve arthritis, and stimulate hair growth, it also heals skin abrasions, smooths wrinkles and best of all kills bacteria on the skin. But that's not the only reason why All-Natural Hand Sanitizer is highly affective. It also contains Tea Tree and the beloved Lemongrass. All of these ingredients combined will ensure that your hands are sanitized, smell fresh and moisturized. Now, I get it, sometimes you may be in a crunch and that nearby hand sanitizer dispenser may be the quickest way for you get rid of unwanted germs. We've all been there. But when it comes to buying your next supply of alcohol based hand sanitizer, I hope this will encourage you to think twice. As always, don't just take my word for it...Research for yourself. Does Natural Deodorant Really Combat Odor?
We have often heard someone say, "My all-natural deodorant keeps me smelling fresh but why doesn't it prevent me from sweating?" So, as we further explore this question, first let's discuss the difference between a deodorant and an anti-perspirant. Deodorant will help your body defend against odor AFTER your arm pits produce sweat. An anti-perspirant is aimed to PREVENT your arm pits from sweating. The main ingredient in anti-perspirants is aluminum which is used to block the arm pit ducts from sweating. Everyday our body inhales and ingests different toxins and it is ESSENTIAL for our body to release them. A major way our body release toxins is through sweat. Now for those who don't desire to sweat and release toxins, this may work for you. But As For Me & My House? Oh we gladly cleanse and release the toxins on the daily. So you may ask, "What is the ingredient in your All-Natural Deodorant that keeps me fresh?" My FAVORITE ingredient: Bentonite Clay. Bentonite Clay is known to pull the toxins from the body while balancing the odor and keeping you fresh. Also, it is aluminum free and preservative free. Are Cleaning Products Harming Your Health?
Many of us have used cleaning products that give us a chemical high when cleaning - some folk may have even passed out by mixing those chemical cleaners. But I'm here to tell you, while the chemical high may seem temporary, it can definitely have long lasting damaging affects. Toxic affects include respiratory issues, lung function and brain function. You don't have to pass out in order to have a disinfected home. Did you know that lemongrass essential oil and tea tree oil can be just as effective as bleach? When using the essential oils in its purest form, it has been supported to fight against fungal growth and countless viruses. These essential oils are found in our All-Natural Household Cleanser, which is great for aromatherapy, helps calm the nerves, and soothe the mind and heal the soul.
